Rune Stokmo is a New York based photographer from Norway. He got his degree at the renowned Brooks Institute of Photography in California and served as a photographer in the Royal Norwegian Air force. After military service he moved to New York and worked with legendary photographer Irving Penn. For the past ten years Rune has been going back to the northern part of Norway photographing the migration of Reindeer through the scandinavian tundra, the northern landscapes and documenting the reindeer husbandry culture. He is known for his field work with indigenous people the Sami people of northern Lappland and the Karen Tribes people in northern Thailand. His photography and videography includes the Auroras of the Arctic through the rice fields of Chiang Mai to the volcanoes of Kyushu island in southern Japan. His works hangs in The National Museum for Photography in Horten Norway and is also owned by HRH The Crown Prince Haakon Magnus and HRH The Princess Mette Marit, HH Princess Martha Louise and Mr. Ari Behn.
